Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a specialized section of our Hospital that provides comprehensive continuous care for critically ill patients requiring close monitoring. The Medical ICU, which is a 12 bedded Intensive Care Unit, has been upgraded to world class standards with fully equipped high end Monitors, Ventilators and Central monitor. There is also provision for dialysis in the ICU.
Residents trained in the care of critically ill patients manage the medical ICU round the clock. For every two patients, there is a specially trained qualified Nursing staff. Respiratory Physiotherapist handles all respiratory related tasks. This ICU has gained wide popularity as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients, not only for the city of Erode, but also for the neighboring districts. Patients with sepsis, poisonings, attempted suicides, post-OP patients with multiple medical conditions, to name a few are treated here.
MICU at Lotus Hospital aims to promote highest standards of multidisciplinary care for critically ill patients and families with scientific approach to management, proper education and professional development. Department of neonatology has a fully equipped NICU unit, headed by Neonatologist. Care for sick new-borns is best provided in an infrastructure which is particularly designed and created for keeping new-borns in mind, by a committed team of physicians who are specially trained in the science of new-borns, both in India and overseas. The NICU houses 11 beds with all modern gadgets.
Facilities available in Neonatal Intensive Care
NICU is conveniently located closer to the labour room and the operation theatre. Minutes details have been paid due attention in designing this place so that quality and safety meet aesthetics and comfort. Here we have facilities of both level II and level III neonatal care. In new-born babies who need NICU care will be immediately shifted from labour room / ward to NICU. Sick babies are also retrieved from other hospitals for further management. On call ambulance will be sent to the respective hospital with staff nurse accompanied by the pediatrician on duty with resuscitative equipments.
Total bed strength of NICU which has 11, is supported by 2 ventilators. 2 phototherapy units with facilities of double surface phototherapy is also existing. 6 transport incubators are available to ferry patients from other Hospitals.
All newborn babies are subjected to metabolic screening tests for relevant common metabolic disorders by capillary blood sampling.
This Section of SICU combines cutting edge clinical care, to improve the management of critically ill or injured patients. SICU, thus offers critical care treatment to unstable, severely, or potentially severely ill patients in the perioperative setting, who have life-threatening conditions and require comprehensive care, constant monitoring, and possible emergency interventions.
Surgical Intensive Care unit is a will equipped Intensive Care unit for all post-operative surgical cases who need ICU care. SICU has 6 beds with high-end monitor, ventilators, central monitor and provision for dialysis. People treated at the SICU have a variety of conditions.
The key care providers in the SICU are the critical care nurses. Our critical care nurses are highly trained and experienced and very skilled at monitoring and caring for the critically ill. The multidisciplinary team caring for your loved one includes dedicated SICU pharmacists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, respiratory therapists, imaging technologists and trauma technicians. It is expected that you and your family may have feelings of anxiety and uncertainty during this stressful time.
It is a 2 bedded care unit with state-of-the-art technology, equipped with high end monitors and continuous oxygen support and manned by trained doctors and nursing staff. We have a step down Neuro ICU to take care of trauma patients who require close monitoring for a long period.

Coronary Care Unit is a specialized section of our Hospital that provides comprehensive continuous care of critically ill patients requiring close cardiac monitoring and patients with heart attacks, unstable angina, cardiac dysrhythmia or various other cardiac conditions that require continuous monitoring and treatment. The coronary care unit is 5 a bedded intensive care unit with well-trained nursing staff with a ratio of one nurse to two patients. The CCU has been recently upgraded to world class standards with fully equipped high end Monitors, Ventilators, and Central monitor. There is also provision for dialysis in CCU. Residents trained in the care of critically ill patients manage the coronary care unit round the clock. Patients with Unstable angina, Acute MI, Cardiogenic shock, complete heart block, LVF, CHF, Cardiomyopathy and uncontrolled hypertension are regularly treated at Lotus Hospital. All patients with heart attacks are admitted here pre and post Angiogram and Angioplasty.
